MSNBC informed its hosts Joy Reid and Stephanie Ruhle about salary cuts to keep their current high-profile positions. This reflects a broader trend in the media industry aimed at curbing the astronomical paychecks of top television personalities, The Daily Best reports.

According to a report in The Ankler, Reid and Ruhle’s pay cuts coincide with MSNBC’s 40% drop in ratings as measured by Nielsen in November.

Earlier that month, the publication reported that the network reduced Rachel Maddow’s salary by $5 million—from $30 million to $25 million per year. However, a company source disputed the accuracy of these figures, declining to disclose the actual numbers.

Additionally, rumors have surfaced about network president Rashida Jones’s potential resignation following Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election. Nevertheless, a company spokesperson denied these speculations in a comment to The New York Post.
