According to reports from the Korean news agency Yonhap, “Squid Game 2” has topped Netflix’s most popular non-English shows ranking for the second consecutive week in 91 countries.

Since its premiere on December 26, the series has garnered 126.2 million views in just 11 days, making it one of the platform’s most successful series in history. Currently, the second season ranks second among all non-English Netflix projects.

The show’s popularity has also boosted interest in the first season, which climbed to second place in the ranking of non-English series, amassing 13.6 million views in a week.

The show’s success has also influenced the popularity of Korean music featured in the series. One notable track is the iconic 1980s song “To You” performed by Shin Hae Chul.

Additionally, rapper Yang Dong-geun’s (YDG) track “BOLO” has become a hit, topping K-pop charts on iTunes in the UK, Canada, and India, and entering the top three in France, the US, and Germany. On Spotify, the song led Switzerland’s viral charts, ranked third in Germany, and fourth in France.

It is worth noting that the first season of “Squid Game” became the most popular series in Netflix history, winning six Emmy Awards, including Best Actor for Lee Jung-jae. Moreover, the streaming platform released a reality show inspired by the series, in which 456 contestants competed for a grand prize of $4.56 million.
