This week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited The Hague for the traditional Invictus Games competition for disabled soldiers. The couple attended several events together, exit was widely discussed because they were in Europe together for the first time after resigning their royal powers in early 2020. Guests and participants of the competition, as well as numerous journalists and fans, noted that there were many “very important and sentimental moments” between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Invictus Games is a personal project of the Duke of Sussex, which he launched in 2014 to support military personnel and veterans who were injured during their service. Since then, he has become a husband and twice a father. It is essential to note that the first public appearance of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took place at the Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017, and in front of the players in Sydney a year later, they announced the imminent addition to the family.
The 2022 competition in the Netherlands marks the third time that a couple participates in an event together. “Nowhere else can you feel the same support as the support of the Invictus family,” the Duke of Sussex shared.
“The Toronto Games were our [with Megan] first official public appearance. We were dating at the time, so it was risky, but luckily we were in the perfect society to announce ourselves as a couple. Now, five years later, we are in The Hague for the fifth Invictus Games, already parents of two children living in the USA,” Prince Harry recalled in a recent interview.
He added: “I’ve always wanted to share these incredible moments with someone special, and having Meg by my side is very valuable! She means everything to me! The last time we were at the Undefeated Games in Sydney was in 2018 when we had just announced that we were expecting the birth of our son Archie. Thus, these competitions are important for us for many reasons, and they are associated with very important and sentimental moments for us as a couple. I am incredibly lucky to have Megan as my wife.”
