On the eve of the hearing on the case of abuse of a minor, Prince Andrew changed his tactics: if he had intended to appear before a jury earlier, he decided to retreat at the last moment. The Duke of York agreed to make a deal with the prosecution in order to avoid an even bigger scandal. The amount that the settlement of the issue cost has not been disclosed, but presumably we are talking about 14 million pounds.
It is reported that the disgraced prince will make “a significant contribution to Ms. Giuffre’s charitable activities aimed at supporting victims of violence.” In addition, Andrew promised to openly “demonstrate his regret over the connection with Epstein” by supporting the fight against human trafficking for sexual exploitation, as well as providing assistance to victims.
This scenario promises to be the least painful for both the prince himself and the entire royal family. It is no secret that accusations of rape of a minor pose a serious threat to the reputation of the monarchy. Amid the escalating scandal, the Windsors did everything possible to distance themselves from the Duke of York and the court proceedings.
