Cristiano Ronaldo beefs up security after threats against his family

Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez have hired a new head of security and dismissed several former members of their protection team over growing concerns about their safety in Saudi Arabia, according to NST.

The Al Nassr forward, who currently lives in Riyadh with Georgina and their five children, felt it was necessary to increase security measures after receiving a series of alarming threats on social media, which ultimately led him to contact the police.

When Cristiano Ronaldo first moved to Saudi Arabia in 2023, he felt safe. But things have changed.

He’s posting less on social media, and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, has stopped sharing photos of their children and no longer feels free to go shopping as she used to.

Reports say the couple, not willing to take any chances, relocated to a more secure residence in Riyadh—equipped with a bunker and state-of-the-art surveillance systems.

While it was initially believed to be a personal choice, the move is now seen as part of a broader security strategy aimed at protecting Ronaldo’s children from anonymous online threats.

To strengthen their safety, Cristiano Ronaldo hired a new head of security and let go of his previous team.

Claudio Miguel Vaz, who now heads Ronaldo’s security, specializes in private-sector protection and has experience working in high-risk areas. He previously provided security for music stars before being hired by professional soccer players like Rafael Le?o and Gelson Martins.

But now, some of Ronaldo’s staff are reportedly unhappy, saying Vaz’s style is too “intimidating and aggressive.”

During Georgina’s recent trip to Paris for Fashion Week, the bodyguard was tasked with keeping photographers at bay as she exited her car. He ended up using a powerful flashlight to blind the paparazzi.
