Meghan Markle’s father gave an interview in which he said that he was going to fly to London in June. Thomas Markle intends to reunite with his daughter and meet Harry and grandchildren Archie and Lilibet for the first time.
The man did not attend Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018, as he was recovering from heart surgery. In addition, he had a strained relationship with the couple. Now he hopes to restore communication with his daughter and her husband.
“I am looking forward to this arrival for the anniversary. I’m going to show respect to the Queen and make sure she understands that my whole family respects her and the members of the royal family. We admire them and want them to know that we treat them the same as we treat England,” Thomas said.
In addition, Meghan Markle’s father expressed his desire to meet with Prince Charles, and thank him for personally escorting his daughter down the aisle. Moreover, now they have another unifying factor – both have strained relations with their children.
Despite attempts to reunite, Thomas criticized Harry and Meghan for not taking Archie and Lilibet with them when they visited Elizabeth II earlier this month: “The refusal of the arrival of the babies was another slap in the face for the queen. It was very rude and wrong. It doesn’t make any sense… I don’t know if it’s Meghan or Harry, but the queen should have every right to see her great-grandchildren, and I should have the right to see my grandchildren in the same way. So if Meghan and Harry show up at the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebration, I hope they bring their children.”
At the moment, Thomas Markle is worried that if Meghan and Harry find out about his presence at the celebration, they will refuse to come themselves: “But if they come, I would like to contact them, talk and try to find out what happened and how we can fix it. I do not know how it will happen, but I would definitely like to try.”
