Guy Pearce spoke on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast about his unpleasant experience working with Kevin Spacey on the film L.A. Confidential.
According to Pearce, Spacey chose him as his target, no question. While Pearce clarified that he was not subjected to overt sexual violence, he described working with Spacey as deeply uncomfortable. Reported by Sky News.
The allegations didn’t go unnoticed. Kevin Spacey, now 65, responded on the social media platform X, firmly denying Pearce’s claims.
“Guy, you need to grow up. You are not a victim. We worked together a long time ago. If I upset you that much, you could have reached out to me instead of airing this to the press. Now they’re hounding me for a response,” Spacey stated.
It’s worth noting that nearly 20 people, including House of Cards colleagues, have previously accused Spacey of sexual harassment—though none of those accusations led to convictions.
Spacey has spent years battling allegations of sexual harassment and assault, all of which he has denied.
This scandal severely impacted his career: he was fired from House of Cards, stripped of his Emmy, and replaced in All the Money in the World.
To cover legal costs, he paid House of Cards producers $32.2 million and sold his mansion for $10.9 million.
In 2023, a British jury found the actor not guilty of nine charges.
Meanwhile, Guy Pearce was recently nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category in “The Brutalist”. He is also an Emmy Award winner and a multiple-time Golden Globe nominee.
