Jude Law, 52, will portray a young Vladimir Putin in the film “The Wizard of Kremlin” directed by Olivier Assayas and based on Giuliano Da Empoli’s book of the same name, reports The People.
The screenplay, in which the British actor will, tells the story of political consultant Vadim Baranov, who, according to the plot, worked with Russia’s future president in the 1990s. According to Bloomberg, the character is based on Vladislav Surkov — a former presidential aide and ex-deputy head of the presidential administration.
Speaking to Deadline, Law shared his thoughts on the new project:
“I’m talking about this cautiously because I haven’t started working on the role yet. Or rather, I have, but right now, it feels like climbing Everest while I’m still standing at the foot of the mountain, looking up and thinking, ‘Oh my God, what have I signed up for?’ I often feel this way when I say yes. I think, ‘My God, how am I going to handle this?’ But it’s my job to figure it out.”
Since the main character of the film will be Baranov—reportedly played by Paul Dano—Jude Law’s role is a supporting one. Alicia Vikander will also appear in the film, portraying Baranov’s love interest, Ksenia.
Recently, Jude Law received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was supported at the ceremony by his wife, Phillipa Coan, who is 13 years younger than him, as well as his children, son Rafferty, 27, and daughter Iris, 23.
