In his book “The Tragedy of the Elysee Palace,” Le Parisien journalist Olivier Beaumont reveals some behind-the-scenes secrets of French President Emmanuel Macron’s daily life, according to The Telegraph.

One excerpt recounts that the President of France is obsessed with an expensive musk-scented fragrance and douses himself with such a generous amount that his aides can tell he’s approaching even before he enters the room.

“Less frequent visitors may be shocked by the floral and musky scent — as refined as it is intense. It signifies only one thing: the President is in the building,” the book states.

Emmanuel Macron wears Dior Eau Sauvage cologne “at any time of day” and always keeps a bottle close at hand.

Dior is part of Bernard Arnault’s LVMH empire. Arnault is the wealthiest man in France and Europe and is considered to be close to President Macron.

Macron’s wife, Brigitte, wears clothing by Louis Vuitton, another brand owned by Arnault.

The book notes that Brigitte Macron occasionally sprays herself with her husband’s perfume “to feel like her man is nearby.”

In another passage, Macron is compared to King Louis XIV of France, who also made fragrance a symbol of power when he “strolled through the galleries of Versailles.” Now, Emmanuel Macron uses his perfume as “an element of power in the Elysee Palace.”

Another aide revealed that Macron always carries a box of sunglasses — but not just any sunglasses. They’re strange, ugly, and absurd, and he hands out a pair to each guest if it turns out they forgot their own.

He has a suitcase “containing about 20 pairs of used glasses of all shapes — not particularly fashionable, some with crooked arms, others with red frames, even slightly ridiculous — from which you must choose to be allowed to stay.”

The book quotes a minister who sees this as one of Macron’s ways of asserting his power.

The author claims that Macron’s PR campaigns do not focus on overt aggression or athletic prowess. Instead, they’ve opted for a more subtle approach — presenting the head of state as the total package: a man other men want to be, and women want to be with.

Unlike photo shoots of other world leaders, where they usually appear stern and intimidating, Macron’s official portraits by Soazig de la Moissonnière are more refined and sensual.

They convey the appearance, confidence, and charm of the French leader, as well as his masculinity and physical capabilities.

It’s worth noting that in 2024, photos of Emmanuel Macron’s boxing were published, causing an unprecedented stir on social media.
