The effect of the screening of the documentary series Harry & Meghan was very unexpected. And both for the heroes of this TV series themselves, and for those against whom it was directed — that is, members of the Royal Family. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by the YouGov agency, the results of which were published in the publication Express.co.uk.
Throughout all six episodes of the series, as viewers could see, Meghan and Harry continuously complained about their “terrible” life within the Royal Family and how they were allegedly mistreated by all the relatives of the late Queen Elizabeth. All of them, except the Queen herself, including the Prince of Wales and his wife, did not look the best in their stories, to put it mildly. However, the sympathy of the absolute majority of Britons who watched the series only increased in relation to Kate Middleton and Prince William and decreased in relation to Meghan and Harry. Almost half, more precisely, 44% of respondents said that now they are even more approving of Kate and William. At the same time, 23% definitely worsened their attitude towards Meghan and Harry after watching the TV show.
The same applies to the effect of continuing the discussion of the previous topic, first raised by Meghan and Harry during the infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey. When Meghan and Harry complained again about the allegedly racist views of the Royal Family and hinted that they were waiting for an apology for the question of how dark their child’s skin could be, almost none of the respondents supported the demand of the heroes of the series. Significantly more than half of Britons said they did not consider the Queen’s relatives to be racists and did not think they had anything to apologize to Meghan and Harry for.
Moreover, after listening to endless complaints, which the absolute majority of viewers considered not only unfounded but simply ridiculous, the respondents “voted” for the Prince and the Duchess to be stripped of their titles! In fact, this topic was raised in the British media even earlier. After all, since Meghan and Harry left the Royal Family, they have only been making new accusations against members of the Royal Family. And now, after watching the series, the number of supporters of the Queen’s grandson and his wife being stripped of their titles has increased several times. It got to the point that activists even started collecting signatures for a petition with this demand, which they want to send to the now-reigning King Charles. And hundreds of thousands of people have already signed this petition.
