Among Democrats in the USA, rumors are circulating about a “grand gesture” by the current American president, Joe Biden, who may withdraw his candidacy in the upcoming presidential elections in favor of former First Lady Michelle Obama.

This is reported by the German magazine Der Spiegel.

The possibility of such a turn in the upcoming elections in the States is being discussed so seriously that the Democratic Party has included the corresponding question in public opinion polls. Bookmakers also consider Michelle Obama one of the most promising potential candidates in the November presidential elections.

Michelle Obama herself has said that she considers politics “a dirty business” with which she would not want to be involved. Partly for this reason, Spiegel attributes the former first lady’s popularity.

The increased interest in Obama is also explained by “never before in U.S. history have two candidates clashed who were so unpopular with each other.”

Meanwhile, a recent CNN poll shows that 49% of registered voters support Republican candidate Donald Trump for President of the United States. The figure has remained unchanged since the January poll. Support for Joe Biden has decreased from 45% to 43%.

In turn, the Financial Times has already written that Donald Trump’s accession to power in the United States would mean the end of the existence of the global West.
