The relationship between the British Royal Family and Prince Harry, who resides in the U.S., may be gradually improving. For the first time in the past three years, King Charles III has officially congratulated his son on his birthday via the Royal Family’s social media, reports The Guardian.
Although the message was brief, it could signify much in the context of Prince Harry’s relationship with his father.
King Charles III accompanied the birthday greeting with a joyful photo of his son. However, it remains unclear whether the relationship between the monarch and the Prince has truly improved or if this was simply a gesture for a significant occasion — Harry’s 40th birthday.
“Happy 40th Birthday to the Duke of Sussex!” wrote the royal family’s representatives, adding a cake and candles emoji to the message.
It is worth noting that this style of congratulation is typical for the British Royal Family and is not considered reserved. Similar messages can be found on the page of the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate.
According to Daily Express, citing its sources, King Charles III also intends to personally contact Prince Harry to congratulate him on the milestone.
This gesture may indicate a reduction in the tension between the King and his younger son, especially after the Duke of Sussex distanced himself from the Royal Family, moved to the U.S., and over the past few years has “spilled” a lot of “dirt” on the members of the Royal Family.
The last time the Royal Family congratulated the Duke of Sussex was when Queen Elizabeth II was still alive. Her final message to her grandson was posted on Harry’s 37th birthday in 2021.
Notably, no birthday message has yet appeared on the official page of his brother, Prince William, and none may be. The Prince of Wales has held a grudge against his younger brother for several years and refused to meet with him, even during Prince Harry’s rare visits to the U.K.
According to People, Prince Harry plans to celebrate his birthday with family at his home in Montecito, California.
Earlier, as reported by The Sun, at the end of August, the brothers, who have a strained relationship, “met” for the first time in a long time, albeit under tragic circumstances, at the funeral of Lord Robert Fellowes, their mother Diana’s brother-in-law. Their behavior indicated that they were not yet ready for reconciliation.
