Scandalous American rapper and music producer Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was denied bail for the third time on Wednesday, November 27, ahead of his trial on charges of sex trafficking, The People reports.
The 55-year-old disgraced music producer made another attempt to secure his release before Thanksgiving, but U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the plea from Combs’ attorneys. As a result, he will remain behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn.
Combs faces charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution, all of which he denies. He had requested release on a $50 million bond under 24/7 house arrest, even offering his mother’s home as collateral.
The rapper’s lawyers argue that the proposed bail would be sufficient to ensure that Sean neither flees nor attempts to intimidate potential court witnesses. However, Judge Subramanian believes that Combs has a propensity for violence and, if released, could obstruct the federal investigation and exert pressure on witnesses.
According to reporters, the ruling states: “The court finds that the government has presented clear and convincing evidence that no condition or combination of conditions can reasonably ensure the safety of the community.” As a result, the rapper will remain in custody.
Diddy’s trial is scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.
