Meghan Markle’s UK popularity has reached its lowest point since tracking began in 2017. The survey by YouGov reveals that only 20% of Britons view the Duchess of Sussex positively, while a whopping 65% see her negatively — the highest disapproval rating she’s received to date, according to the Daily Express.

The poll, conducted on May 6–7, 2025, among 2,222 adults, reflects a marginal shift from February’s results, which recorded a 21% favorability rate. While the change is slight, it marks a new low in public sentiment.

The decline comes despite Meghan’s recent efforts to rebrand through new projects, including a Netflix cooking series, a podcast, and lifestyle products under her “As Ever” label. She has also increased her social media presence, offering glimpses into her family life with Prince Harry and their children.

Prince Harry’s popularity has also continued to slide. Following his high-profile interview with the BBC and the legal loss over his UK security arrangements, his approval rating now stands at 27%, with 63% viewing him negatively — his worst rating since early 2023.

Age appears to play a significant role in public opinion: younger respondents are more sympathetic toward the Sussexes, while older age groups remain largely critical.

In contrast, working members of the Royal Family maintain strong support.

Prince William is the most popular royal. 75% of Britons have a positive opinion of the heir to the throne, followed closely by Princess Catherine at 72%. Princess Anne ranks third, praised by 69% of respondents and carrying the lowest negative rating (11%) in the Royal Family.

King Charles III holds a 61% approval rating, though his disapproval has risen slightly to 29%, a five-point increase since February.

At the bottom of the list is Prince Andrew, whose public image remains deeply damaged. Just 5% of Britons view him positively, while a staggering 85% express a negative opinion.
