U.S. presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris, expressed doubts about her Republican opponent, Donald Trump, fitness for the presidency. Harris made this statement during a rally in Michigan, Axios reports.
“I heard reports (at least, his team claims) that he is suffering from exhaustion. Being the President of the United States is probably one of the toughest jobs in the world. So we need to ask whether he’s tired of the campaign and whether he is fit for this role,” Harris emphasized.
Axios writes that Trump’s team has canceled several of his campaign activities in recent weeks, specifically his appearance at the National Rifle Association event next week. Additionally, the Republican declined two interviews and cut a speech in Pennsylvania short.
The article’s authors note that Trump’s age and mental fitness have come under increased scrutiny—especially after the current 81-year-old President, Joe Biden, dropped out of the presidential race in July. If 78-year-old Trump is elected president, he will surpass Biden’s record as the oldest head of state.
It should be noted that Harris previously accused Trump of concealing details about his health. This was reported by CNN. In particular, she stated that her opponent in the presidential race refused to release his medical records.
Before this, the White House published a letter from Harris’s physician — U.S. Army doctor Joshua Simmons — summarizing Kamala Harris’s medical history.
When asked about Trump’s health condition, she responded: ‘I will not provide you with a medical analysis of his physical fitness, but on every other level, when it comes to what we should expect from the President of the United States, who must demonstrate sound judgment as Commander-in-Chief and leader of this country, we know that he is not capable of performing this job.’
