The famous singer and sister of Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, found herself at the center of a scandal after making questionable comments about the racial identity of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, reports The Daily Mail.

In an interview with The Guardian, Jackson expressed doubt about Harris’s racial identity, stating: “I was told she’s not Black. That’s what I heard. She’s Indian.” These remarks sparked a wave of criticism, particularly given Harris’s role as the first Black person and Indian woman to serve as Vice President.

Fake Apologies from a ‘Manager’

After the scandal, a statement allegedly on behalf of Janet Jackson appeared in the media, “apologizing” for “misinformation.” It was published by Egyptian filmmaker Mo Elmasri, who claimed to represent the singer’s interests. The statement said that Jackson respects Kamala Harris’s heritage and apologized for her remarks.

However, it was soon revealed that this apology was fake. Elmasri has no connection to Janet Jackson or her family. The singer has been represented by her brother Randy Jackson for many years, who later denied any collaboration with Elmasri.

Reaction and Consequences

Janet Jackson has not yet made an official statement about the incident, while critics continue to discuss her comments. In any case, the situation with the fake “apology” only added fuel to the fire and drew even more attention to the singer’s statements.
