17-year-old Kai Trump, the granddaughter of U.S. President Donald Trump, appears to have turned her back on Tesla following a high-profile split between MAGA and Elon Musk, according to The Daily Beast.
Kai posted pictures on her first day of senior year—not beside the Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast her grandfather had given her—but next to a sleek black Cadillac Escalade.
This shift comes after a dramatic fallout on 5 June between Musk and Trump, when Musk accused Donald Trump of suppressing Epstein-related files, reportedly to protect himself.
Earlier, Kai proudly showed off her Cybertruck in prom night photos, and earlier this year even shared a video of racing it. At the time, she affectionately referred to Elon Musk as “Uncle.” However, since the Musk-MAGA rupture, she has not posted about him on social media.
Instead, recent uploads show Kai beside that black Escalade, bearing the “U” logo of the University of Miami—her chosen university, where she’ll play collegiate golf.

The vehicle also features “2026” and UM’s iconic orange and green colors on the rear window, along with “The U” hand gesture in one image.

Kai isn’t the only one distancing herself from Tesla. The company is enduring a difficult year partly due to Musk’s turbulent political maneuvering, including “hints” of forming a new political party to challenge MAGA during the 2026 midterms.

Financially, this turmoil has hit hard. Tesla’s Q2 earnings report, released in July, reveals a 16 percent drop from a year earlier to $1.2 billion amid a deepening sales slump and rising discounts to move its aging electric models.
