The overwhelming majority of UK citizens have a negative opinion of Elon Musk, and the number of his opponents has increased after his involvement in British politics and calls for the Prime Minister’s resignation.
This is according to a YouGov poll published on Monday, January 13.
The latest survey shows that 71% of Britons currently view Elon Musk negatively. This marks a seven-percentage-point increase compared to November 2024, when the previous poll was conducted.
Among other findings, 55% of respondents expressed a “very negative” opinion of Musk—a 14-point rise since November.
Only 20% of those surveyed had a positive view of the owner of X (Twitter), which is within the margin of error of the previous poll (18% at the time).
When broken down by political affiliation, only supporters of the far-right Reform UK party, which Elon Musk has publicly endorsed, viewed him positively—51% of them said so (down from 54% in November 2024).
At the same time, even among Reform UK voters, the percentage of those with a negative opinion of Musk has significantly increased—from 24% to 41%.
It should be noted that in recent weeks, Elon Musk has been actively commenting on the political situation in European countries and has directly called for the resignation of the heads of government in the UK and Germany.
According to media reports, Elon Musk has held private discussions with allies about removing UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer from his position before the next election.
