At the annual DealBook Summit in New York, Prince Harry, 40, confirmed he has no plans to leave the United States with his wife Meghan Markle, and their children, despite speculation to the contrary, the Daily Mail reports.
The primary reason, he explained, is safety:
“I enjoy living here and raising my children here,” Harry shared, adding that there are opportunities and experiences for his family in the US that “wouldn’t be possible in the UK.” This decision follows his unsuccessful legal challenge regarding the loss of taxpayer-funded police protection in Britain.
The Duke of Sussex also spoke about his dedication to his family, stating his goal to “be the best husband and father I can be.”
Touching on broader social issues, Harry expressed skepticism about proposals to legislate bans on children using social media. He warned such measures could backfire, leading to family conflicts and peer bullying.
Harry also addressed the persistent rumors about his breakup with 43-year-old Meghan, which often surface online:
“According to what’s written about us, we’ve bought and moved into new homes at least ten times and divorced another ten. It’s hard to keep up with this news, which is why you just start ignoring it. Honestly, I feel sorry for the trolls the most: they get their hopes up so much, and then it turns out that nothing happened. So, I feel bad for them,” he said.
Since stepping back from royal duties and relocating to the US in 2020, Harry’s relationship with his members of the British Royal Family has remained strained. This tension has been exacerbated by public revelations from Harry and Meghan about challenges within the Royal Family.
Recently, reports emerged that the couple purchased property in Portugal, following a request from Harry’s father, King Charles III, to vacate Frogmore Cottage in Windsor—a wedding gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II.
